Whitney Skauge

Whitney Skauge is dedicated to diverse storytelling and representation in her work, with her films acting as a form of both social and political activism. Over the years, Skauge has worked with organizations like Breakwater Studios, Women In Film, Sundance Institute and the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, and she received her B.F.A. in digital filmmaking from the University of Montana. Her film, The Beauty President (Mountainfilm 2021) recounts Joan Jett Blakk’s 1992 bid for presidency as one of the first openly queer write-in candidates.
