Tom Shepard

Producing, directing and editing documentary films for over 20 years, Tom Shepard’s projects — including Scout’s Honor (2001), Knocking (2006), Whiz Kids (2010) and The Grove (2012) — have aired nationally and played in hundreds of film festivals worldwide. Reviews of his work have been featured in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe. His feature film Unsettled (Mountainfilm 2020) tells the intimate, untold stories of LGBTQ refugees and asylum seekers who are resettling in the U.S. after feeling intense persecution in their home countries. Shepard is the founder of the Youth Documentary Academy in Colorado and teaches film classes there regularly.
