Skye Fitzgerald
Skye Fitzgerald has built a career documenting global human rights and social justice issues, shooting for Dateline NBC, CNN, the History Channel, the Travel Channel and ABC. He founded Spin Film to bear witness to unfolding crises with the intent to deepen empathy and understanding. He is best known for a trilogy of films focused on the global refugee crisis. The last two films of the trilogy, Lifeboat (Mountainfilm 2018) and Hunger Ward (Mountainfilm 2021), were both Mountainfilm Commitment Grants recipients and nominated for Academy Awards®. Before filmmaking, Fitzgerald cut fire-lines as a member of a hotshot wildland fire crew. He rides several bicycles to ruin and hugs three dogs on a daily basis. Fitzgerald is also a member of the Documentary Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. His most recent project Speed of Rust is premiering at Mountainfilm 2024.
