Shane Matthews

Shane Matthews is a cartographer by trade — he believes maps are important in helping people understand their place on this planet, thus enabling better decision making. Matthews claims that filmmaking is similar to map making in that it merges art and science. He believes film can expose complex environmental and social issues and inspire action. To better tell his stories, Matthews founded the Colorado-based independent film company, Reel Inspired Media. He partnered with Joe Ventura to bring us Carving Joy (Mountainfilm 2020), an inspirational short documentary.
