Robert Nixon’s love for the ocean can be seen in his latest project, Mission Blue. The documentary chronicles the life of trailblazing oceanographer and eco-activist Sylvia Earle and her advocacy for government protection of ocean life from human-caused environmental disasters. Nixon is a filmmaker and conservationist whose movies illustrate the human connection to nature and an urgency to save our planet. He has made more than 50 documentaries and dramatic films and was a co-producer of Gorillas in the Mist, the 1988 drama about naturalist Dian Fossey and her work in Rwanda with mountain gorillas.
