Rick Silverman

Rick Silverman grew up in Northern California and attended school there. He became involved in the civil rights movement and with other community organizations. After college, he worked with migrants as a tomato picker and then worked for a Vista program. Rick moved to Seattle and pursued his PHD in political science, before moving to Telluride in the 1970's. Rick says that the appeal of Telluride was that it is a good place to "hide-out." Rick served as Mountainfilm's program director for many years. Rick was also a member of the School Board at Telluride School District. A self-proclaimed unabashed liberal progressive, Rick continues to be involved in politics in Telluride and loves participatory democracy. In addition to his passion for activism, he is an avid skier and started a helicopter skiing business in Telluride.
