Pete Wagner
Pete Wagner began his career as a computer scientist. He developed programs to design custom-wound carbon fiber shafts for pro golfers based on each pro’s unique preferences. In 2000, he decided he’d rather ski than golf and moved to Telluride, Colorado. After experiencing disappointment with some mass-produced skis, Wagner realized individual skiers are not mass produced and set out to digitize the design process for custom-built skis. His company, Wagner Custom, opened in 2006, in a renovated gas station running entirely on solar and wind energy, to craft boards with optimized shape and flex parameters for each specific skier.
