Matthew Heineman

Based in New York, Emmy-nominated filmmaker Matthew Heineman has worked on several award-winning films and television shows, including the feature-length documentary Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare, the HBO series The Alzheimer’s Project and Cartel Land (Mountainfilm 2015). For Cartel Land, Heineman follows the story of two vigilante groups fighting Mexican drug cartels on both sides of the border, the Mexican Autodefensas movement and the American paramilitary group Arizona Border Recon. Heineman tells another compelling and courageous story in City of Ghosts (Mountainfilm 2017).
