Laura Basil Duncan
Laura Basil Duncan is an award-winning filmmaker focusing on radical culture, extreme sports and impactful narratives. Her debut short documentary Rebirth won the Impactful Story Award and Audience Award at the Portuguese Surf Film Festival, and screened across the globe, including The Ocean Film Festival World Tour, London Surf and Kendal Mountain film festivals. Duncan spent years working as a director’s assistant alongside director Sasha Rainbow on the Kamali documentary about a single Indian woman’s fight for her daughter’s empowerment through skateboarding. Kamali was nominated for Best British Short Film at the BAFTA Awards and long-listed for an Oscar in 2020. Most recently she directed Tether (Mountainfilm 2024).
