John McCall
When not treating patients and professional athletes, orthopedic surgeon John McCall is a mountaineer and explorer. He has climbed mountains all over the world and visited the Clyde River areas in Baffin Island, Nunavut, and sailed and climbed in his native Scotland and the Antarctic Peninsula. McCall is a member of several sports medical teams, including three Olympic teams: 1992 in Albertville, France; 1994 in Lillehammer, Norway; and 1998 in Nagano, Japan. He was the medical officer for equestrian events at the Montreal Olympics and is the chief medic for Speed Skating Canada. He is the chief of the Department of Surgery in Collingwood, Ontario, and the Alpine Club of Canada representative for the International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA) Medical Commission.
