Jerry Rothwell
Documentary filmmaker Jerry Rothwells film How to Change the World (Mountainfilm 2015) won the World Doc Special Jury Award and the Editing Candescent Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. His work includes the award-winning feature documentaries Donor Unknown, about a sperm donor and his many offspring; Heavy Load, about a group of people with learning disabilities who form a punk band; and Deep Water, about Donald Crowhurst's ill-fated voyage in the 1968 around-the-world yacht race. In addition to making his own films, Rothwell helps others tell their own stories on film. With Hi8us Projects, he improvised dramas with young people and helped establish First Light, the UK Film Council's program for young filmmakers to set up digital storytelling exchanges between marginalized communities across Europe.
