Jen Guyton

Jen Guyton has parlayed her passion for wildlife conservation and nature into a thriving career in photography. The National Geographic Young Explorer has worked as a biologist on three continents, studying baboons in Tanzania, meerkats in South Africa, hippos in Kenya and termites in Namibia. Currently she is looking at bat diversity and conservation, and the ecological interactions between plants and the large mammals that eat them. Guyton is a National Science Foundation graduate research fellow and holds a master’s degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from Princeton University, where she is pursuing her PhD. She has won several prizes for her photography, including Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Nature’s Best Photography. Guyton’s writing and photography have been published in a number of print and online journals. In addition to caring for animals, Guyton helps organize and teach workshops for Mozambican students who have little access to high-quality science education.
