Heather Sackett

Heather Sackett is a journalist covering water and the environment on Colorado’s Western Slope. With a background in community news, she has worked for The Littleton Independent, The Denver Post, the Telluride Daily Planet and KOTO Radio News. She has a master’s degree in environmental journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder. Sackett has written about the Colorado River for the nonprofit, investigative news organization Aspen Journalism since 2018, winning awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Colorado Press Association for her coverage of topics like agriculture, climate change, outdoor recreation and water law. When she’s not reporting and editing, she can be found trail-running the single track and high alpine meadows of the Roaring Fork Valley.
