Grant Slater

Originally from Oklahoma, Granter Slater is a Brooklyn, New York-based filmmaker, photographer and journalist. He holds bachelor's degrees in Russian and journalism from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, where he received a full scholarship from the White House Correspondents’ Association. Slater specializes in filmmaking for publications, online channels and brands. His documentary work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Atlantic, National Geographic and Bloomberg Businessweek. His character-driven stories have been recognized with numerous awards, including a Mountainfilm Commitment Grant for Mammoth (Mountainfilm 2017). Slater has traveled extensively for his film work, covering conflicts in the Ukraine and Georgia, politics in Israel and the West Bank, as well as technology policy issues in Asia, Africa and Europe. He has lived in the former Soviet Union and in the Middle East and speaks fluent Russian.
