David Hanson
Seattle-based freelance journalist and photographer David Hanson has published his work in Mountain magazine, National Geographic Adventure and Outside online. He’s a Georgia native who grew up near the Chattahoochee River, which has been at the center of a years-long water battle between the states of Georgia, Alabama and Florida. That dispute prompted Hanson and his brother to take a 30-day canoe trip from its source in North Georgia to the Gulf of Mexico, where they explored the people, agricultural systems and economies that depend upon the river for survival. Their trip is the subject of Who Owns Water, which is a Mountainfilm Commitment Grant recipient.
