Dave Foreman

In 1980, Dave Foreman left his job at The Wilderness Society to form the radical group Earth First!, which was inspired by Edward Abbey’s The Monkey Wrench Gang. From 1995 to 1997, he served on the Sierra Club’s board of directors and then helped found The Rewilding Institute, a think tank dedicated to conservation and combating extinction. Foreman is one of a handful of characters in ML Lincoln’s documentary Wrenched, which chronicles the environmental movement from its early Abbey-inspired acts of monkey-wrenching to eco-activists of today, such as Tim DeChristopher.
