Chris Benchetler

Chris Benchetler has become one of the most creative and progressive backcountry skiers of all time. He transitioned from ski racing to freeskiing when he realized he had a gift for acrobatic flight at an early age. His skiing has been featured in films with Teton Gravity Research, Sweetgrass Productions, Warren Miller, Matchstick Productions and Poor Boyz Productions. Benchetler is also an artist and designer, creating his own pro-model ski, “Bent Chetler,” with Atomic in 2008. His designs have also made it onto other signature pieces for DaKine, Reef, Dragon, Clif Bar and Smartwool. Benchetler was one of the founding members of the legendary Nimbus Independent, a cross between a production company and a skiing brotherhood that’s known for its carefree style of skiing. Alongside Tyler J. Hamlet, Benchetler has now hatched a singularly unique adventure film concept that’s brought to life in Fire On The Mountain (Mountainfilm 2020).
