Growing up in New Jersey, photographer Ben Canales’ regular nightscape was heavily polluted with light; crystal clear starry nights were only a dream. When he moved west to Oregon, he was quickly consumed by the majesty of starry nights — and if there’s one thing that Canales loves, it’s being outside under the stars. A professional night photographer and partner at Portland-based Uncage the Soul productions, he focuses on night and timelapse photography, making art out of the sky. His work has been featured in press around the world and earned National Geographic Traveler Best Travel Picture of the Year.
