Adam Loften

Adam Loften is an Emmy-and Peabody-nominated director, editor, cinematographer and producer of short documentary films that highlight pressing social and environmental issues. Loften’s documentary shorts are potent with environmental elements that might not otherwise have been exposed without his keen eye for detail. His work has been featured on PBS, National Geographic, The Atlantic, Emergence Magazine, The Guardian and The New York Times. As an editor on The Atomic Tree (2019), Loften helped tell the story of a 400-year-old Japanese White Pine bonsai tree that survived the atomic blast in Hiroshima. Other works include the award-winning documentary short Earthrise (2018) and virtual reality experience Sanctuaries of Silence (2017), as well as the acclaimed shorts Welcome to Canada (2017) and Marie’s Dictionary (2015). Together with Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee he is the co-director of Counter Mapping (Mountainfilm 2019) and The Nightingale’s Song (Mountainfilm 2024).
