Renan Ozturk Seriously Injured, But Mending

Renan Ozturk, one of our favorite filmmakers at Mountainfilm, took a tumble in the Jackson Hole sidecountry recently and got terribly banged up, with damage to his back and skull.

Rock and Ice reports that despite the serious injury, he returned home on Tuesday. Doctors are expecting a full recovery – hopefully in time to be at the World Premiere of his terrific film, Towers of Ennedi.

In 2009, Renan won Mountainfilm’s Charlie Fowler Prize for his remarkable film, Samsara, where he followed Jimmy Chin and Conrad Anker up the Meru peak in India. The film used his beautiful cinematography and exquisite paintings to tell the story of this ridiculously challenging expedition.

We at Mountainfilm are sending all our love to this really exceptional filmmaker and general, all-around, really great guy.
