Program Update
May 8, 2007I haven't had a chance to blog recently, because we've been so busy putting together the material for the program for the festival. It's really a collaborative process, with four or five of us actively contributing material for the printed program and the website. It couldn't happen without everyone's help. My role in the whole thing isn't all that glamorous when it comes down to it: essentially I am an organizer. Nuts and bolts, you know, making sure that every "in person" filmmaker is accounted for, checking spelling, alphabetizing things correctly, checking the dates and times of different programs, making sure we have synopses for all the films, etc. It's amazing how much work goes into the printed program. We're putting together a book really, a hundred page tome.Having said that, I do still get to have some fun. I'm the first contact person for filmmakers, so I get to spend a good amount of my time talking with some very amazing people. This morning, for instance, I got a phone call from the filmmaker Jeff Barrie, of Kilowatt Ours, with a very interesting proposition. More about this in a later post! Some things come and some things go. Unfortunately, Granny D won't be able to make it after all. :-(But to end this post on a positive note: the office is generally quiet and calm, and everyone is working well together. The staff numbers keep expanding as the fest gets closer, and by next week this place will be a zoo! We're enjoying the last little calm before the storm.Posted by Emily Long
