Photo Inspiration: Stone

Even though the Grand Prize Winner for our photo contest has been chosen - by you! - we’re going to continue featuring some of our favorites here on the blog. Every week we’ll be bringing you another photo that in one way or another reflects our mission statement: educating and inspiring audiences about issues that matter, cultures worth exploring, environments worth preserving and conversations worth sustaining. We'll be announcing the Grand Prize Winner next Thursday, so check back to see who won!

We chose this photo not only because it’s straight up beautiful, but also because it serves as a great reminder that huge, breathtaking expanses of nature (like Glacier National Park, for example, where the rock in this image was found) tend to contain innumerable microcosms that are just as beautiful as the larger whole. When the general beauty of an environment scales all the way down to the rocks in its rivers, the need to preserve it becomes all the more apparent.
