A "Reely" Rockin' Night
September 11, 2007The Sheridan Opera House has been wired for full stereo surround for years now, but the system has only ever been used once a year during the Telluride Film Festival. Those in attendance last Friday at the Reel Rock Film Tour, however, might have noticed a specific rumbling in their seats and skipping beats in their chests; Sheridan building manager Luke Slayman hooked up the full thumping power of the Dolby system for the event. The Tour grabbed the front page of the Pulse section of the Daily Planet on Friday. Unfortunately, the kicker for the page three article incorrectly advertised the show as happening on Saturday! Regardless, the seats were far from empty and the show drew hard-core climbers and non-climbers alike.A big raffle at the end of the night raised $262 for the Colorado 14ers Initiative. Daniel Murray from Telluride was the big winner, scoring an Osprey pack stuffed with a pair of Chaco flip-flops, a pair of La Sportiva hiking shoes, a Petzl helmet, Petzl headlamp and Nikwax products.Mountainfilm would once again like to thank Eric Dalton and the Jagged Edge store for their generous sponsorship of the event. If you missed the Telluride show, you can catch Reel Rock in the following cities: Durango (9/11 & 12), Gunnison (9/20), and Crested Butte (9/21).
