North of Known

For years, professional paraglider Gavin McClurg harbored an ambitious dream to soar the length of the entire, 500-mile-long Alaska Range, riding thermals as far as possible before landing to camp for the night. Dave Turner joins McClurg on the adventure, but the pair run into trouble when bad weather grounds them for days at a time. Hiking takes its toll, in the form of calories burned, and the expedition turns into a desperate quest to make it to their next food cache. North of Known features beautiful aerial shots of North America’s highest peaks — Denali, Foraker and Hunter — while the film’s stars fly by in pursuit of their dream, looking small and vulnerable in the great wide open.
