Overview

Colorado Premiere
What happens when your life changes in an instant — leaving you in a body that is alien to you? That’s what professional mountain biker Paul Basagoitia experiences when a devastating tumble leaves him with a spinal cord injury (SCI). But this film isn’t just about a professional athlete’s road to recovery. It’s about the many and varied people who are touched every day by SCIs. Young and old, from every background, they are mothers and husbands, lovers, friends, workers, outdoorsmen, dreamers. And they are brought together by the exquisite agonies, behind-the-screens struggles and indelible lessons that only something of this gravity — being stripped of the ability to walk — can bring. This is a film about the resilience, grit and determination it takes to stay open to life’s possibilities in the face of traumatic change. As Paul puts it, “you almost need something really, really bad to happen to you ... to appreciate little things in life.”
