Meet the Author — Roman Dial: The Adventurer’s Son

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare: A child lost alone in the wilderness. It’s a reality National Geographic Explorer and scientist Roman Dial was forced to face when his 27-year-old son walked alone into Corcovado National Park, an untracked rainforest along Costa Rica’s remote Pacific Coast, and then dropped off the map. While hiking through the dense jungle and searching for clues of his son’s whereabouts, Dial was left to question the fearlessness he instilled in his son and his own adventure-fueled lifestyle.

Dial will explore his experience and his memoir, The Adventurer’s Son, with Rebecca Martin, the founding director of National Geographic’s Expeditions Council and the founder and president of Exploration Connections.

The Adventurer’s Son is available at Telluride’s Between the Covers Bookstore, Mountainfilm's indie bookselling partner.
