Sarah Marquis
National Geographic Explorer Sarah Marquis spent three years walking 10,000 miles from Siberia to southern Australia by herself (with the help of one cargo ship journey between Bangkok and Australia). This expedition was only one in her decades-long adventures by foot across the globe. She has ventured on multiple walking expeditions through the Australian outback, as well as a stroll from Canada to Mexico and across Bolivia, from Chile to Peru. During her 2015 solo journey across 500 miles in remote, arid western Australia, she lived off the land while surviving drought, crocodiles and bushfires.
