Jim Aikman

Currently based in Portland, Oregon, Jim Aikman began his career in Michigan and Colorado, working on stories from around the globe. Jim combines a lifelong connection to wilderness with a formal education in storytelling to craft films about natural history, adventure and social justice, making award winning documentaries for over twenty years. Jeff Lowe's Metanoia was shared as a work in progress at Mountainfilm 2014 and then as a feature in 2015, when he also won Mountainfilm's Commitment Grant for his feature documentary Lost Temple of the Inca. Aikman also directed Hold Fast (Mountainfilm 2018), An Imperfect Advocate (Mountainfilm 2021), Annapurna ‘78 (Mountainfilm 2022) and Like a River (Mountainfilm 2022). He also co-directed The Kyrgyzstan Project (Mountainfilm 2012) and High and Hallowed: Everest 1963 (Mountainfilm 2013).
