In Depth
Water and the Southwest 2008 MF
Special Presentation

The water of the Colorado River was instrumental in building the American West. Now this “brave new west” has grown and is quickly morphing into something that the river may not be able to handle.

Our look at the past, present and future of the Colorado and this Southwest Four Corners region begins at In Depth with a screening of MacGillivray-Freeman’s new film, Grand Canyon Adventure, featuring Wade Davis and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

After a Q & A with Wade and the filmmakers, Wade will be joined by two familiar faces from the Water Symposium: Wade Graham and Brad Udall —and Dave Wegner, a 21-year veteran of the Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service who now runs his own company, Ecosystem Management International. Dave has spent much of his career focusing on natural resource and water issues in the Southwest.

This impressive panel will have a roundtable discussion about the lifeblood of the desert and what we need to do to ensure that our well—once thought to be perpetually self-sustaining—does not dry up.
